    This year, there are two ways for UM-Flint students, faculty, alumni, and staff to participate in the Crim Festival of Races on campus. The fun takes place on Saturday, August 28.

     

  • The Michigan Mile to be held on UM-Flint campus

    The University of Michigan-Flint has a long relationship with the Crim Festival of Races-an event that draws tens of thousands of people to Flint's downtown over three-days in late AugustNow, the university is the sponsor of one of the races, the "Michigan Mile." The race will be run primarily on the UM-Flint campus, starting at the traditional Crim start line and ending at the finish line on the Saginaw Street bricks.

    You can only judge a book after you read it, but one look at the newly renovated campus bookstore and you're likely to be wowed.

    In just three weeks, fixtures were upgraded, the floor plan changed for more consumer convenience, and softer colors now decorate the walls.

     

  • Undergraduate Research moves to under the Capital Dome

    Students from the University of Michigan's three campuses (Flint, Dearborn, and Ann Arbor), Michigan State University, and Wayne State University will celebrate the contributions undergraduate students are making to the State of Michigan through their engagement in cutting edge research at the sixth annual Michigan Undergraduate Research Forum to be held at the State Capitol in Lansing on Wednesday, March 24.

     

  • Poetry under the Stars

    The "Poetry Under the Stars" Series starts on Tuesday. March 9, at the Longway Planetarium. These events are free and open to the public, with a "meet the poets" segment from 6:30-7 p.m., and then the "poetry reading" from 7-8:30 p.m.

     

  • University of Michigan-Flint Names New Provost

    Gerard Voland, Ph.D., has accepted the position of provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, pending approval by the University of Michigan Board of Regents. He will also hold the title of professor of engineering within the College of Arts and Sciences. He will assume his duties on July 1, 2010.

     

  • UM-Flint to Offer Special Help to Unemployed or Underemployed

    The University of Michigan-Flint is hosting a special, day-long event to help folks in need of getting their career back on track. "I'm Laid Off, NOW WHAT?" is a program that will present a rare opportunity to meet with career experts for FREE to learn the most effective career planning, and job search techniques. It will be held Wednesday, March 3, from, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Room 111, French Hall.

     

  • Winter 2010 Enrollment at UM-Flint hits record High

    Enrollment at the University of Michigan-Flint has increased for the Winter 2010 Semester with a 12% growth in graduate and an almost 8% (7.9) jump in undergrad students compared to last year. The overall increase is almost 8% (7.9).

     

  • Extreme Makeover: Campus Bookstore Edition

    This spring, the campus bookstore will undergo a significant renovation that, once completed will create a more open and inviting space to serve not only the campus but the community of Flint. During the approximately three week renovation, the bookstore will be freshly painted with softer tones, enhanced with upgraded fixtures, and reconfigured to better handle peak shopping periods creating a more enjoyable shopping experience. In addition to the physical changes, an annual donation of $15,000 will be placed in the "Barnes & Noble Scholarship" fund for UM-Flint students.

     

  • UM-Flint Prepares for 2010 MLK Observance

    Would you trade a day of service for a one day pass to a Walt Disney World or Disneyland theme park? That will be an option available to those who volunteer at various sites around Flint during the Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service on Monday January 18.

    This year, the University of Michigan-Flint is partnering with the Hands on Network and Disney to encourage volunteerism. When you sign up to volunteer (and your service is completed and verified) you will get a one day admission pass free.

     

  • December 2009 Commencement Update

    The Winter 2009 Commencement Ceremony for the University of Michigan-Flint will be held on December 13, at 2:30 p.m. in the Perani Arena and Event Center . About 300 students are expected to participate in the ceremony.
