As the campus gears up for Giving Blueday, to be held on Wednesday, March 10, this year's efforts are being elevated through the work of Student Ambassadors. In fact, the campus community is confident these students will play a critical role in the success of Giving Blueday this year.

The university is working closely with 15 student ambassadors that represent all five schools and colleges, and UM-Flint's diverse student body. Tetyana Clarke, Donor Relations and Stewardship Assistant for University Advancement, is partnering with the group to assist in this year's Giving Blueday activities. "By helping spread the spirit of giving at UM-Flint, these student ambassadors also serve as advocates to their peers, building the culture of philanthropy on campus, and encouraging others to remain engaged with the university beyond their time as students" stated Clarke.

Specifically, those students serving as Ambassadors for Giving Blueday 2021 include the following UM-Flint students:

  • Mallory Lucas, Criminal Justice and Sociology majors representing the College of Arts & Sciences
  • Elexis Burton, Communication Studies major representing the College of Arts & Sciences
  • Carlos Correa, Psychology major representing the College of Arts & Sciences
  • Katelyn Johnson, Social Work major representing the School of Education & Human Services
  • Ashley McIntosh, Criminal Justice and Sociology majors representing the College of Arts & Sciences

  • Angela Wang, Master's of Business Administration representing the School of Management
  • Alexis Menard, Business Administration major representing the School of Management
  • Kendricka Brown, Nursing major representing the School of Nursing

Student ambassadors will have the opportunity to engage in various ways, such as promoting Giving Blueday on social media, making thank-you calls, recording videos to thank those making gifts, or sending personal notes of thanks to Giving Blueday donors. University Advancement will be closely working with student ambassadors to ensure they are supported throughout this year's event.

Sheena Burgos shared her inspiration for serving as an ambassador for Giving Blueday, "What motivated me was the dedication and support I have for the University of Michigan-Flint. I love helping people and would go above and beyond for them as well as our community. I love that I will have the opportunity to make a difference." Katelyn Stuck chimed in by saying "With Giving Blueday, I want to spread both my love for UM-Flint and the spirit of giving across our community. Now more than ever, it is very important to give back. Giving Blueday is an excellent way to give back to students."
