The Office of Educational Opportunity Initiatives celebrates "15 Years of Access, Impact and Achievement!" at UM-Flint
The University of Michigan-Flint Office of Educational Opportunity Initiatives (EOI) has a well defined mission: to foster changes in institutional services and climate, and enhance the ability of the University of Michigan-Flint to identify, recruit, serve, and graduate students of diverse backgrounds with a particular emphasis on students from under-represented groups. It is a mission that the department has been accomplishing since 1995 when it was first formed. Over the years, hundreds of students have benefited from the efforts of EOI.
On Thursday, October 28 at 4:30 p.m. in the Michigan Rooms on the UM-Flint campus, EOI will celebrate its 15th anniversary. The theme, "Fifteen Years of Access, Impact and Achievement" highlights the department's decade and a half of working to ensure higher education opportunities to socially and economically underrepresented students in Flint, Genesee County, and across Michigan and beyond. Joining the observance is former UM-Flint chancellor, and current chancellor of North Carolina Central University, Dr. Charlie Nelms. He will deliver the keynote address. For more information, or to RSVP, call the Office of Educational Opportunity Initiatives at (810) 762-3365.
