UM-Flint Vice Chancellor Receives National Recognition

Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Mary Jo Sekelsky was selected by the American Business Women's Association (ABWA) to receive that organization's most prestigious national award.

The association will give special recognition to the 2011 Top Ten Business Women of the ABWA at the National Women's Leadership Conference to be held in Chattanooga, Tenn. in late October.  The Top Ten is the highest honor awarded to a member of the ABWA.

Sekelsky was nominated by her chapter, Crossroad Connection, for the national award. The selection takes into account career accomplishments, community involvement, and their contributions to the ABWA. There were 118 nominations from chapters around the country.

"It is humbling to be in the company of such a talented group of women," said Sekelsky.  "Moreover, I am delighted by the national recognition this honor brings to both Flint, Michigan and the Crossroad Connection Chapter."

One of the Top Ten will be chosen as the 2011 American Business Woman of the ABWA http://abwa.org/ The organization has 545,000 members.
