The University of Michigan-Flint's Indian Student Association hosted its annual Diwali Celebration, Nov. 14, in honor of the Hindu festival of lights. The festival symbolizes the spiritual victory of Dharma over Adharma, light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. Diwali is India's biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row of clay lamps that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects them from spiritual darkness. The campus event was a celebration of culture and diversity as attendees came together to enjoy a variety of cultural performances, dancing, games and food.
