University of Michigan-Flint Chancellor Susan E. Borrego has been appointed to serve on the Hurley Board of Managers.

Chancellor Borrego was appointed by Flint emergency manager Darnell Earley to fill the vacancy on the board created by the retirement of M. Richard Shaink, former president of Mott Community College.

"I am honored to be selected to serve on the Hurley Board of Managers," said Chancellor Borrego. "Hurley Medical Center is an important resource and a longtime partner of UM-Flint, helping our students as they pursue degrees in the field of health. I look forward to joining my fellow board managers in service to the community."

According to a city news release, Borrego's term runs through 2015, and she can then be reappointed for a full five-year term.
