A University of Michigan-Flint student will receive the Commitment to Service Award for the depth of community involvement or service experiences. Only 45 students will receive this award.

Generation Serve is a program created by UM-Flint student and veteran Cameron Waites in cooperation with the Flint Chapter of the Student Veterans of America to fill what he saw as a big need, especially for those interested in a healthcare career
Students will attend morning lectures, followed by day tours of museums, theatres, and other architecturally significant buildings throughout the city. In addition, eight evening performances, including a show at the Globe Theatre, are scheduled.
The chancellor told lawmakers UM-Flint spent approximately $100 million on purchases, payroll, and funds released to students in Genesee County.
