"Better Together" Unity Rally Set for Flint City Hall

The community is invited to join the “Better Together” Unity Rally to celebrate a new spirit of hope for the future. The rally will be held Tuesday, August 18 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the front lawn of Flint City Hall. The event is co-sponsored by the Community Foundation of Greater Flint (CFGF) and the American Democracy Project at the University of Michigan-Flint.

The community is invited to join the "Better Together" Unity Rally to celebrate a new spirit of hope for the future. The rally will be held Tuesday, August 18 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the front lawn of Flint City Hall. The event is co-sponsored by the Community Foundation of Greater Flint (CFGF) and the American Democracy Project at the University of Michigan-Flint.

Guest speakers will include former mayoral candidate and County Commissioner Brenda Clack, former interim mayor Mike Brown, Vice President of the Flint City Council Delrico Loyd, Vice Chair of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners Pat Lockwood, and Flint Mayor Dayne Walling. The Rev. Lewis Randolph, pastor of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, and Rabbi Karen Companez, of Temple Beth El, will offer prayers. Entertainment will be provided by the Ishmel Sisters and the event is free to all attending.

"The Community Foundation looks for opportune moments to bring the whole community together to focus on what we have in common, a love for our community fortified by a hope for a brighter future," said Kathi Horton, CFGF president. "We are pleased to join students involved with the University of Michigan-Flint's American Democracy Project to sponsor a rally to express everyone's commitment to work together to create a stronger community for all of the residents of Flint and Genesee County."
