UM-Flint prepares for spirited rivalry week ahead of Michigan vs. Michigan State game

University of Michigan vs. MSU Watch Party

The University of Michigan-Flint is set to ignite campus spirit this week with an exciting lineup of events leading to the highly anticipated Michigan vs. Michigan State football game. From Oct. 23-25, students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in themed days and activities to showcase their Wolverine pride.

Spirit Week kicks off on Wednesday, Oct. 23, with "Future Wolverine Day." Participants are encouraged to dress up as the professionals they aspire to become, highlighting the diverse career aspirations within the UM-Flint community.

Thursday, Oct. 24, is "Wacky Wolverine Day," challenging the campus to create the most outrageous outfits featuring school colors. The day will culminate in the "Split Mitt Karaoke, Craft and Game Night"  at 6 p.m. in Clint's Cafe, promising an evening of fun and camaraderie.

The week will conclude Friday, Oct. 25, with "Zombie Wolverine Day," where the undead will roam the campus as students and staff don their spookiest Wolverine-themed zombie costumes.

Participants are encouraged to share their spirit on social media by posting pictures to Instagram and tagging @umflintodos. 

Rivalry week comes to a close with the Game Day Watch Party, 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, at the FIM Capitol Theatre, at 140 E. 2nd St. This event will unite the campus community as the Wolverines and Spartans battle it out for the Paul Bunyan Trophy. The historic theater's state-of-the-art audiovisual setup promises an immersive experience for all attendees. 

Tickets for the watch party are available with a recommended $10 donation through KidsTix. All contributions are welcome, and no one will be turned away due to a lack of funds. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

"Split Mitt Spirit Week is about more than just football," said Lucas Langdon, assistant dean of students. "It's a chance for our campus community to unite, show our Wolverine pride, and create lasting memories. We're especially excited about the watch party at the FIM Capitol Theatre, which will be an unforgettable experience for all who attend.
