  • SPRING! And UM-Flint Fills the Air with Beautiful Music

    Like the arrival of spring Robins, many music lovers look forward to the Annual Vocal Arts Festival at the University of Michigan-Flint. The spring festival is a highlight of the Department of Music and is an opportunity to showcase the talents of the vocal ensembles, which consist of both music and non-music majors.

    This year's Festival will feature two events:

    • Vocal Arts Recital on Thursday, March 26, 7:30 p.m., in 164 French Hall
    • Vocal Arts Festival Concert, April 5, 4:00pm at St. Paul's Episcopal Church

     
  • Pre-Engineering Courses to be Offered to Lapeer Students

    A unique new program, to begin in Fall 2008, will help prepare Lapeer High School seniors for a future career in engineering, and give them a jump on their college education. The University of Michigan-Flint is joining with the Lapeer County Intermediate School District Education and Technology Center to offer the pre-engineering program.

     
  • Alumnus Helps Establish Unique Internships

    Students interested in engineering now have an opportunity for a paid internship leading to guaranteed full-time employment at a unique military engineering center. Thanks to the efforts of the University of Michigan-Flint Academic Advising and Career Center and a chance meeting with an alumnus.

     
  • UM-Flint Named a "Best in the Midwest"

    The University of Michigan-Flint is one of the best colleges and universities in the Midwest according to The Princeton Review. The New York City-based education services company selected the school as one of the institutions it recommends in its "Best in the Midwest" section on its website feature 2009 Best Colleges: Region by Region.

     
  • All Rooms Filled at New Residence Hall

    Chancellor Ruth J. Person visited the new residence hall as part of her first tour of campus. The facilty will open August 24. As of last week, the Office of Housing and Residence Life announced that all 310 beds in the First Street Residence Hall have been assigned, and a wait list has begun.

     
  • A Closer Look at the Economy-Today and Tomorrow

    Recession, bail-outs, rollercoaster Dow, foreclosures, and economic crisis…if the current economic turmoil has you confused or scared, you have an opportunity to get a better understanding of what it all means. The University of Michigan-Flint's School of Management and the Rotary Club of Flint are inviting the community to an Economic Forum.

     
  • Grant to Promote a More Diverse Health Workforce

    The University of Michigan-Flint will receive a federal grant of $354,050 to encourage more students from disadvantaged backgrounds to enter and complete health professions training programs. The announcement of the grant was made by Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI).

     
  • UM-Flint to provide new services to family owned businesses

    The School of Management (SOM) at the University of Michigan-Flint will soon offer a unique service to an important segment of the state's business community. Family-owned businesses are often referred to as the "backbone of the American economy." While there is wide array of services and learning opportunities available for business, very little is aimed at the important family-owned segment.

     
  • 300 students now call campus home

    What began as a dream became a reality for the University of Michigan-Flint when 300 students moved into the first residence hall on the Flint campus on August 24, 2008.
