Do you have a special talent you'd like to showcase? You're in luck: the University of Michigan-Flint Student Government (SG) is hosting an online talent show this month.

The sixth Annual FirePit event is being held online for the first time and will include a talent show featuring video submissions from UM-Flint students. Students can submit videos depicting their talent by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, April 16. SG will post these to its Instagram page, and will announce the winners on April 17.

Earlier this year, SG moved the FirePit event online to make it more accessible and inclusive, said Logan Jorrey, Student Government Director of Web and Technology.

"The Senate made sure to hone in on the inclusive campus aspect of the [previous SG president] Bhardwaj-Odira administration. Senate realized that event attendance can be tricky at our campus due to our students' other commitments, so by making Fire Pit online we created a space where you can participate from anywhere at any time. This also allowed our online student community to participate as well," Jorrey said.

This is the first-ever virtual talent show at UM-Flint. The three videos with the most "likes" by SG's Instagram followers will win prizes such as a GoPro Camera, Beats Pill Speaker, and an Amazon Kindle.

"This is also a great way to showcase your talents to your peers and maybe even gain some clout," Jorrey said. "In the wake of the current situation, it's nice to remember that things are going to be OK and maintain a sense of normalcy and community."
