UM-Flint's Part-Time MBA Program Ranked 9th in Midwest & 41st in Nation

The University of Michigan-Flint’s MBA program has been ranked among the top 10 part-time MBA programs in the Midwest by BusinessWeek. The magazine’s latest rankings released on November 5, 2009, also places UM-Flint 41st nationally among part-time MBA programs.

The University of Michigan-Flint's MBA program has been ranked among the top 10 part-time MBA programs in the Midwest by BusinessWeek. The magazine's latest rankings released on November 5, 2009, also places UM-Flint 41st nationally among part-time MBA programs.

"The ranking of UM-Flint's MBA program provides external validation of our core business, which is quality business education," said School of Management Dean John Helmuth. "I appreciate the dedication and talent of our faculty, staff, and students in creating one of the premier MBA programs in the Midwest."

BusinessWeek uses a comprehensive methodology for its rankings. The magazine surveyed 4,222 students from 99 programs to measure student satisfaction and post-graduate outcomes. BusinessWeek also determines an academic quality score based on average GMAT score, average work experience, the percentage of all teachers in the part-time MBA program who are tenured faculty, average class size in core business classes, the number of business electives available to part-time MBA students, and the program's completion rate.

Students surveyed by BusinessWeek noted UM-Flint's excellent faculty, exceptional academic experiences, comprehensive programs, and high quality of students. UM-Flint earned an A+ ranking in "Caliber of Classmates" and an A in "Curriculum" in their student surveys.

Student responses from the survey include:

"Most professors had real-world experience and were knowledgeable in new business technologies, current business practices, and contemporary social issues."

"Professors had both real-world and academic experience. They were accomplished researchers and understood what would help us succeed in the workplace and in business in general. They challenged me, and the students did, too."

"Classes are small, and there is a lot of interaction between students and staff. I liked the intimate setting. Also, professors are excellent communicators and return e-mails and phone calls promptly."

"I was exposed to many different areas of the study of management. The program is well-rounded and comprehensive."

Recently, UM-Flint's School of Management also earned a spot among The Princeton Review's 301 Best Business Schools.
