Kristi Wilson has been named associate dean of graduate programs, while Suzanne Keep will serve as associate dean of undergraduate programs. Both bring extensive nursing education and leadership experience to their new roles.

Wilson, a UM-Flint nursing graduate, has nearly 40 years of nursing experience and has worked in nursing education for much of her career. She has served as director of SON’s RN-to-BSN and professional education programs since 2022 and was appointed interim director of graduate nursing affairs in July 2025.

In her new role, Wilson will work with faculty and staff to evaluate the graduate curriculum, including course content and sequencing, to ensure students are prepared for professional practice.

“My favorite part of this position is working with people,” Wilson said. “I plan to stay connected and provide meaningful support for the important work of our faculty and staff, ultimately contributing to positive student outcomes.”

Keep returns to UM-Flint with nearly 50 years of nursing experience, including almost four decades in nursing education. She previously taught at the university and has contributed to nursing research, publications and professional service throughout her career.

As associate dean of undergraduate programs, Keep will focus on strengthening student support, identifying opportunities for program improvement, and expanding connections between nursing education and the Flint community.

“This region offers rich opportunities for impactful service-learning, enabling nursing students to engage directly with residents and health care officials in the Flint area,” Keep said. “Through this firsthand experience, students will gain a deeper understanding of both the wellness challenges residents face and the vital resources available to address them.”

The appointments support the School of Nursing’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its academic programs, provide faculty with additional leadership support and prepare students for careers in nursing.

Cynthia McCurren, SON dean, is excited to see their impact. “These associate dean roles recognize the scope and importance of the leadership needed to advance our undergraduate and graduate programs,” she said. “Dr. Wilson and Dr. Keep bring deep experience and a shared commitment to supporting faculty, transforming nursing education, and helping students succeed. Their leadership will help us prepare nurses who are ready to meet the evolving needs of the communities they serve.”
