The University of Michigan-Flint Career Services Network recently hosted its annual Employer Appreciation Breakfast, bringing together more than 70 representatives to honor those who support student success across campus. The event served as a celebration of collaboration, engagement and a shared commitment to building meaningful career pathways for UM-Flint students.

Designed as a retention-focused event, the goal of the breakfast is to strengthen existing partnerships by recognizing the vital role employers play in shaping student experiences. By expressing gratitude and highlighting the impact of employer engagement, CSN hopes to encourage continued and expanded involvement through career fairs, workshops, networking events, internships, and other student-centered initiatives.

As part of the event, CSN recognized the Flint & Genesee Group and Sovita Credit Union with its Certificate of Employer Partnership Excellence. The award spotlights outstanding dedication, active participation in campus events, and ongoing efforts to connect students with valuable professional opportunities.

The event also showcased key tools and resources that support employer collaboration, including Handshake and Parker Dewey, platforms that help organizations connect with students, post opportunities, engage in microinternships, and stay involved in campus programming. Ensuring partners are aware of these resources is an important step in fostering a more connected and responsive employer network.

"By honoring employer contributions and highlighting avenues for deeper collaboration, the breakfast reinforces UM-Flint's mission to prepare students for meaningful careers while strengthening connections between the campus and the regional workforce," said Antonio Riggs, associate director in the university's Office of Student Career Advancement and Success.
