The University of Michigan-Flint's Department of Public Safety is hitting the road with a one-of-a-kind Community Engagement Mobile Unit—an RV being turned into a rolling arcade packed with a racing simulator, Nintendo games, and an interactive play floor. The brainchild of university police and esports students, the high-tech hub will be used to spark connections and build trust, one game at a time. The mobile unit will bring fun and friendly competition to community events from Harmony Fest to the Crim Festival of Races. Student leaders see gaming as a cure for Gen-Z isolation, while officers view it as a game-changing way to meet residents face-to-face and rewrite the conversation around campus policing.
