The Campus News Digest (CND) features announcements, news, and event updates relevant to the UM-Flint campus. The CND is distributed every two weeks in the UM-Flint NOW newsletter coordinated by University Communications & Marketing (UCOM).

UM-Flint Ice Rink Opening 12/4

The UM-Flint Ice Rink will open for free community skating on Wed., Dec. 4. Regular hours are offered every Wed. (6-9 p.m.), Fri. (5-8 p.m.), and Sat./Sun. (noon-4 p.m.). Admission is free, with skate rental available if needed for $3 inside UPAV. As a special bonus, there will be four free skate rental days this season, on Dec. 7 and 28, Jan. 19, and Feb. 19.

Library extends hours through semester close

The Frances Willson Thompson Library will remain open for extended hours to help students finish the semester starting Dec. 2. A full list of days and hours can be found here.

Young Sharks Business Expo and Pitch Competition 12/3

UM-Flint will host the elementary students for a Young Sharks Business Expo and Pitch Competition on Dec. 3, which will give students the chance to showcase and communicate their ideas. Read more about a UM-Flint effort that has trained area teachers on how to teach entrepreneurial skills to their elementary school students.

UM-Flint Hockey Alumni Game 12/4

Fans are welcome to attend and watch the UM-Flint Alumni Hockey Game on Sat., Dec. 14 at 6:00 p.m. in the Crystal Fieldhouse. The ACHA DIII UM-Flint vs. CMU game will follow at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door, $3 for age 12 & under, free for under age 5.

Therapy Dogs: Paws for Stress Relief event 12/9

Come pet your stress away with the Mid Michigan Therapy Dogs – Angels with Paws at the Paws for Stress Relief event. The dogs and their handlers will be visiting the library's third-floor lobby and the Student Veterans Center on Dec. 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
