UM-Flint/MTA Bus Route Updated to Better Serve Students, Faculty and Staff

With the arrival of warmer weather, you might want to consider a lunch-hour visit to the Flint Farmer's Market—and the UM-Flint bus will take you there for free.

The Mass Transportation Authority's Downtown/Campus Route #14 serves UM-Flint students, faculty, and staff. All you need to do is present your UM-Flint I.D.

The Mass Transportation Authority (MTA), working with the University of Michigan-Flint, created the route. It transports passengers 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The route makes a loop around the campus area roughly every 15 minutes.

Its first stop is at the University of Michigan-Flint Theatre, then University Pavilion, Urban Health and Wellness Clinic at the William S. White Building, Faculty/Staff Parking Lot S off Robert T. Longway, the Recreation Center, and then to the front of the First Street Residence Hall. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the UM-Flint bus makes an additional stop at the Flint Farmer's Market.

To better serve students living in the East Court Street area ("East Village"/"College and Cultural Neighborhood"), from 6:30 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday, the bus will provide hourly trips to that area at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 9:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m.

Passengers interested in the service should show up at one of the MTA's designated bus stops on campus and request the East Court Street area of the MTA driver.

The Downtown/Campus route was created to give greater access to the downtown area for UM-Flint students faculty, and staff who may need transportation.

Plans are currently being finalized to make the bus more identifiable. An official announcement on details of that project will be made in the very near future.
