  • UM-Flint Named to Presidential Honor Roll for Community Service

    The University of Michigan–Flint has been honored by The Corporation for National and Community Service with a place on the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for exemplary service efforts and service to America's communities.

     
  • UM-Flint Selected FOX 66 Green Team Business Award Winner

    The FOX 66 Green Team announced that the University of MichiganFlint is the February recipient of the FOX 66 Green Business Award. The Green Business Award is presented to one local business each month for taking strides to make their workplace more eco-friendly. UM-Flint proudly participates in many eco-friendly programs to serve our community and were highlighted for their efforts during a recent "TV 5 News at 10pm on FOX 66". The university will continue to receive special recognition through-out February.

     
  • Poetry Under the Stars

    When you think of a Planetarium, the study of the solar system or perhaps a laser show is something that may come to mind. However, in the coming months, the dome at Flint's Longway Planetarium will have a new use. Poetry with a love theme will be presented as part of the new "Poetry Under the Stars" series. Other presentations will cover rebirth, new beginnings, and faith. The presentations will have a multi-cultural flavor, one with Arabic and French to Polish and Spanish.

     
  • Campus Compact honors UM-Flint faculty member

    Michigan Campus Compact (MCC) recently announced that Dr. Heather Laube, assistant professor of Sociology and Women and Gender Studies, will be honored with an MCC Faculty/Staff Community Service-Learning Award, the highest MCC bestows on faculty and staff in the state of Michigan.

     
  • Celebrate History As It Happens

    The Office of the Chancellor and the American Democracy Project (ADP) are celebrating the

    Inauguration by sponsoring a teach-in in the Michigan Rooms of University Center. The almost hour and a half event that begins at 10 a.m.will cover the history, purpose, and function of Presidential Inaugurations, what issues are facing the new administration and the country, and what it means to us all as students, community members, and Americans.

     
  • Memorial Service Set for Professor Wigston

    There will be a memorial service this Friday, January 9, 1 p.m., at the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 Hill Road, Grand Blanc, for Dr. David Wigston, professor of biology in the University of Michigan-Flint College of Arts and Sciences. He was the former director of the University's Office of Research. He died at his home on the 29th of December after a long illness.
