A Gift for History Program that Makes History
A founding faculty member of the University of Michigan-Flint has left the largest single gift from an individual donor to the University. The gift from the estate of Dorothea E. Wyatt, Ph.D., will take the history program to the next level of excellence.

Two UM-Flint Students to be Honored for Community Service
Michigan Campus Compact (MCC) recently announced that two students from the University of Michigan-Flint will be awarded for their dedication and commitment to community service during the twelfth annual Outstanding Student Service Awards, April 5, 2008 at the Holiday Inn-South in Lansing.

UM-Flint Announces New Campus Dining Service
The University of Michigan Board of Regents approved new board rates for students who will live in the new residence hall during the 2008/2009 Academic Year. The University of Michigan-Flint also announced it is entering into an agreement with Sodexo, Inc. to provide expanded dining services on campus, and provide meal plans for students who live in the new residence hall.

School of Management to Host Wall Street Journal Editor
One of the most important national and local economic issues will be explored during a special presentation at the University of Michigan-Flint. James R. Hagerty, an editor at The Wall Street Journal, will speak on "Envy of the World? How We Created the Mortgage Meltdown and Where We Go from Here" as part of the School of Management Dean's Speaker Series.

Maize and Blue Distinguished Scholars Selected
The Scholarships, Awards and Special Events Committee has announced the graduates selected to receive the Maize and Blue Distinguished Scholar Award, the highest academic award bestowed upon a graduate of the University of Michigan-Flint. These awards will be given at the April 27, 2008 Commencement.

The 2008 Michigan football season ticket sale for all UM-Flint and UM-Dearborn students will begin Monday, April 7 at 9:00 a.m.

New Agreement Eases Transfer of OCC Business Students to UM-Flint
Oakland Community College (OCC) and the University of Michigan-Flint School of Management have entered into a new partnership that will benefit OCC students seeking a bachelor's degree in business. A new articulation agreement, was signed Wednesday, April 2, by officials from both schools.

Faculty Member Selected Fulbright Scholar
Another University of Michigan-Flint faculty member has been selected as a Fulbright Scholar grantee. Susan Gano-Phillips, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences will travel to Hong Kong for the 2008-09 academic year.

Jim Abbott to Speak at UM-Flint Commencement
James "Jim" Abbott, Flint native and former U-M baseball pitcher who went on to play for several pro teams, will be the speaker at the University of Michigan-Flint's commencement ceremony on Sunday, April 27 at 2:30 p.m. in Perani Arena and Event Center. Abbott will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws, as well.

Sending Pennies to Cambodia
Penny Wars have nothing to do with throwing pennies. In fact, they have everything to do with collecting them, and UM-Flint student nurses do that very well. The Penny Wars were started a few years ago as a fund raising activity for various nursing programs and projects.
