  • UM-Flint Student Art to Help Cancer Patients

    University of Michigan-Flint students from the Fine Arts and Education programs, under the artistic direction of Michael C. Sevick, associate professor of art, will embark on a special project for the Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute located in Flint. About a dozen students will be involved in the painting of a mural that will be located in the cancer institute's atrium.

     

  • Fulbright Award Leads to UM-Flint Family Adventure

    Besides being selected a Fulbright Scholar last year, the prestigious award given University of Michigan-Flint Associate Professor Susan Gano-Phillips Ph.D., included a 10 month residency for her family. Little did she realize that spending this past academic year helping to strengthen general education in Hong Kong universities, would lead to a great travel opportunity for her and her family.

     

  • University of Michigan-Flint Tuition for 2009-2010 Academic Year

    The University of Michigan Board of Regents approved a 6.5 percent increase in undergraduate tuition for students at the University of Michigan-Flint.

    UM-Flint's proposed budget for 2009-2010 also included a 4.9 percent increase in graduate tuition and an 8.5 percent increase in institutional financial aid.

     

  • UM-Flint Nursing Students Establish Child Life Center

    In late May, nine students and two nursing faculty traveled to Kenya to participate in an International Academic Service Learning course for two weeks. They provided nursing care and teaching to a variety of people through St. Mary's Mission hospital. They also left behind something special for the children.

     

  • UM-Flint Provost Headed to EMU

    The University of Michigan-Flint provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, has been named provost and executive vice president for Eastern Michigan University (EMU) pending approval by the EMU Board of Regents.

    Provost Jack Kay has held the position on the Flint campus for the past five years.

     

  • Maize-The UM-Flint Falcon


    A Peregrine Falcon chick has been moved to a University of Michigan-Flint building. According to the Michigan DNR, this is the first time they have a moved a chick from a building where it was born.

     

  • American College of Dubai and UM-Flint Sign Agreement

    A newly signed articulation agreement could help further internationalize the University of Michigan-Flint campus. The School of Management (SOM) recently signed an agreement with the American College of Dubai (ACD) at the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to facilitate transfer of credits from ACD to UM-Flint. Under this agreement, students can complete up to 33 credits in ACD, and transfer to UM-Flint's Bachelor of Business Administration program to complete the rest of their business studies.

     

  • New Dean Named for UM-Flint School of Health Professions and Studies

    A professor at Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale-Davie, Florida has been recommended by an 11 member search committee as the new dean of the University of Michigan-Flint School of Health Professions and Studies. Provost Jack Kay announced the selection of Barbara L. Kornblau, a professor of occupational therapy and public health in the College of Allied Health and Nursing, and College of Osteopathic Medicine. The U-M Board of Regents will be asked to approve Dr. Kornblau at the June meeting.

     

  • 2009 Faculty and Staff awards

    University of Michigan-Flint Provost Jack Kay has announced that ten faculty and staff have been selected to receive awards for excellence. The recipients will be honored at the Fall Academic Convocation scheduled for September 11. Those selected for the award were nominated by colleagues and selected by the Scholarships, Awards, and Special Events Committee.
