Students in the Spotlight (Flint Rep collab video story)

    The University of Michigan-Flint and FIM Flint Repertory Theatre shared a stage during the 2025-26 academic year, giving students a front-row seat to professional theater production.

    With Flint Rep's Bower Theatre under construction, the company moved its entire season to the UM-Flint Theatre, creating hands-on opportunities for students across four professional productions. The season opened with "A Streetcar Named Desire," running Sept. 19 through Oct. 5, followed by "A Facility for Living" in December and Green Day's "American Idiot" in May 2026.

    The partnership's centerpiece was "Lucky Stiff," a March co-production between Flint Rep and UM-Flint's Theatre program. The show gave student actors the rare chance to perform alongside professional artists, while UM-Flint students working behind the scenes gained real-world experience across all four productions, from lighting and sound to set design and construction, under the guidance of working theater professionals.
