How do software engineering and music composition connect? For Braeden Burger, Winter 2026 Maize & Blue Distinguished Scholar and recent computer science grad, the two disciplines built upon each other. From learning debugging techniques to fix a piece of software and tweaking an original Mariachi composition to taking skills honed in his music performance class into public presentations of technical research, Burger had the opportunity to pursue both of his passions while developing impressive professional skills at UM-Flint.
