UM-Flint names 14 students as Maize and Blue Scholars

Maize & Blue Award recipients Winter 2025

The University of Michigan-Flint has announced the winter 2025 Maize and Blue Distinguished Scholar Award recipients.

The Maize & Blue Award is the highest academic recognition for undergraduate students during commencement season. It is presented to at most 26 students per year who excel academically and exemplify intellectual maturity and depth, character, talent and service to the university and the community. The recipients are selected by a faculty committee, and both faculty and staff write letters of recommendation for students who apply for the award.

The winter 2025 commencement ceremonies will occur May 3-4 at the Riverfront Conference Center.

The winter 2025 Maize and Blue Distinguished Scholar Award recipients are:

Blake Ackerman
Business administration with a concentration in finance

Farah Alasbahi
Molecular biology/biotechnology with a concentration in pre-medical and a mnor in psychology

Lina Azeim
Political science with a minor in law & society

Jennah Changezi
Biochemistry with a concentration in pre-medical
 
Daniel Decoste

Biology with a concentration in pre-veterinary
 
William Gunther

Health Sciences with a pre-physician assistant concentration and a minor in public health
 
Micah Helzerman
Computer science with a minor in mathematics
 
Eliza Hogan
Mathematics with a concentration in abstract math and a minor in computer science
 
Kennedy Lyons
