UM-Flint Senior Blair Walker has found himself in some interesting company. He is one of 10 finalists selected from hundreds of applicants in a national contest sponsored by Intel called "Intel for Change: Smart Girls=Smart World." He's the only male among the finalists.

The contest is an effort by Intel to focus on girl's education around the world, and how in many parts, girls continue to be disproportionately denied access to education.

Each contestant was asked to write a 100-word bio, and produce a short video. Both are posted on the contest website. After reading the statements and listening to the videos, you have an opportunity to vote.

Walker says the winner of the contest will have the choice of visiting one of three countries to learn what that country is doing to better educate their girls.

Voting closes May 17.
