The University of Michigan Board of Regents recently approved a 2.9% increase for Residence Hall  room and board rates for 2011-2012.

The proposed rate increases were developed in consultation with the vice chancellor for student affairs and vice chancellor for business and finance as well as their respective management teams.

The proposed room and board average rate increase is 2.9%. The components of the increase include: 3.0% for room rate; 2.8% for board. This increase is commensurate with projected increases in the general cost of operations, and consistent with long-term funding plans developed when First Street Residence Hall was approved.

The increase will add $242 to the rate for a four-person, single-bedroom suite, and $207 additional for a four-person, double-bedroom suite.
