From big cities and small towns around the state, the Midwest, and countries around the world, new students are arriving on campus who will call the First Street Residence Hall "home."

The incoming freshmen, often accompanied by parents, were greeted by student volunteers to help make the process a little easier. One of the volunteers was sophomore Ashley Edwards from Bloomfield Hills.

"Last year, I remember the volunteers helping me move in. This year, I wanted to be part of it," said Ashley. "It's great to be able to welcome the incoming freshmen."

Beecher, Illinois is about 60 miles south of Chicago, and about 300 miles from Flint.  Megan Mulderick and her family made the trip so Megan could work on a degree in graphic arts.

"I didn't want to go to school in a big city like Chicago," said Megan. "I spent a lot of time looking for the right school that offered the program I wanted."

Interim Housing Director Kimberly Butka said that the residence hall is filled.
