Flower Power Added to Bridge Connecting UM-Flint Campus

The short walk from Northbank Center to the University Pavilion is now a little more pleasant, thanks to the Flint Downtown Development Authority (DDA).

Four new flower boxes, two on each side, have been added to the railings of the Saginaw St. Bridge over the Flint River.  The boxes are welded to the top of the rails. The custom flower boxes each feature a small arch, copied after the large ones that cross Saginaw St. A master gardener filled the boxes with a variety of fall flowers and plants.

DDA Director Larry Ford said special decorations will be placed in the boxes for the winter months.  He also said he was looking into what could be done to patch some of the broken sidewalk concrete on the bridge.
