UM-Flint selected by Consumers Energy for green award

The University of Michigan-Flint has been selected as the 2009 Green Generation Customer Participant of the Year by Consumers Energy.

This program has allowed over 13,000 Consumers Energy electric customers to show their environmental leadership through voluntary participation in the support of Green Generation. UM-Flint is among the top five largest participants in the program with over 2 million kWh's purchased of Green Generation since joining. The total commitment to renewable energy represents just above 3% of the total annual energy consumption of the University.

Consumers Energy's Green Generation Program was launched in September 2005, and UM-Flint has been enrolled in the program since 2006,

The Participant of the Year Award will formally be presented on June 21.
