The Michigan Mile to be held on UM-Flint campus

The University of Michigan-Flint has a long relationship with the Crim Festival of Races-an event that draws tens of thousands of people to Flint’s downtown over three-days in late AugustNow, the university is the sponsor of one of the races, the “Michigan Mile.” The race will be run primarily on the UM-Flint campus, starting at the traditional Crim start line and ending at the finish line on the Saginaw Street bricks.


The University of Michigan-Flint has a longrelationship with the Crim Festival of Races-an event that draws tens of thousandsof people to Flint's downtown over three-days in late August. Now, the university is the sponsor of one ofthe races, the "Michigan Mile." The race will be run primarily on the UM-Flintcampus, starting at the traditional Crim start line and ending at the finishline on the Saginaw Street bricks.

"I am extremelypleased that our ongoing partnership with the Crim Festival of Races will reacha new level this year," said Chancellor Ruth J. Person. "We welcome allparticipants and non-participants to join us for this signature annual event."

UM-Flint Chancellor Person unveiled the official MichiganMile logo with Race Director Deb Kiertzner at aMay 19, press conference.

The main 10 mile race runs through the UM-Flint campus, andthe university has a long tradition of staffing a water station and making ourRecreation Center available to the participants. The races will be held on Saturday, August28.
