Math Field DayThe 41st Annual Math Field Day will take place Tuesday, February 26 on the University of Michigan-Flint campus. High school students will compete in individual and team competitions that test their mathematical skills.

Last year, 185 students from high schools across the Lower Peninsula participated, including Grand Blanc High School, which has participated in the field day for the last 40 consecutive years. The event is designed to stimulate interest in mathematics as well as recognize mathematical ability among Michigan high school students.

The UM-Flint Department of Mathematics organized and administers the competition. Rowe, Incorporated and Gabriel Roeder Smith & Company sponsor the event.

"A strength of the University of Michigan-Flint is the time students spend in direct contact with faculty and staff, Rowe, Incorporated is proud to bring this experience to high school students throughout the state of Michigan," said Chris Beland, survey project manager for Rowe, Incorporated.

"Working in the actuarial and benefits field requires critical thinking, working under deadlines and the ability to work in teams. Math Field Day prepares students for these real-life experiences with the fun and excitement of competition," said David Kausch of Gabriel Roeder Smith & Company.
